Inflorescence
Wet open places; pastures, ditches, and shores of lakes and streams. First collected in Oakland Co. in 1913.
The introduced European species is a sterile triploid, reproduction being vegetative. Nevertheless, it may be more widespread than the few scattered collections suggest. One collection, from the shore of Burt Lake (Cheboygan Co.) is a variegated form, presumably a horticultural escape.
