B. S. Walters
An Asian species grown for ornament and hedges, rarely escaping to roadsides, fields, shores and dunes, and disturbed ground. First collected in 1934 in Houghton Co.
A densely prickly plant, with large, thick, rugose leaflets and large red-purple (or white) flowers. The thick pubescence tends to obscure any stalked glands that may also be present.
