Plantago virginica A. A. Reznicek

Considered a native species in eastern North America, but weedy in habit and not collected in Michigan until 1896 in St. Clair Co. Sandy hillsides, clearings, and fields (old or recently abandoned).

The characteristic spreading septate hairs are sparse enough that the surface under them is clearly visible.
