Fens and calcareous shores, often abundant (when the water level is right) in interdunal hollows along the shores of Lakes Michigan and Huron, and in open peaty hollows. Very rarely growing in sphagnum. This is the only one of our species not also found in Europe.
Normally found in more calcareous situations than D. rotundifolia or D. intermedia, but sometimes found growing side by side with Drosera rotundifolia. See notes under. D. anglica.
