It is not certain that this is native to Michigan. It was first collected in a lawn in Kalamazoo Co. in 1943, although more recent Washtenaw Co. collectons are from more natural settings, and it is somewhat more frequent in natural settings nearby in adjacent southern Ontario and northern Ohio
