The ligules in both species tend toward orange or yellow-orange compared to the more clear yellow ones of many genera in this group.

1. Heads solitary on strictly naked scapes (often many scapes per plant); pappus consisting of 5 bristles and 5 scales (the latter outside and alternating with the bristles).
