Included in C. trisperma in Michigan Flora.
Sphagnum bogs, usually on hummocks and typically in more sunny sites than the closely related C. trisperma.
Apparently very local, but with a very specific habitat and only recently recognized as a distinct species (Kirschbaum 2007), thus perhaps somewhat overlooked. The filiform-involute leaves give this somewhat the look of the upland Carex eburnea, but topped with inflorescences resembling those of C. trisperma.
