Smilacina racemosa of Michigan Flora.
In moist to dry forests, most often in rich beech-maple stands but also on floodplains and forested dunes and in oak-hickory and other drier forests; often thrives in open second-growth stands; rarely in moist coniferous forests.
The stem is not erect, but arches gracefully. The greenish white flowers develop into red berries which may be conspicuous in the fall. This is generally a large plant, taller and with many more flowers than the other three species.
