A Eurasian native. No Michigan specimens from the 1800’s are known, but O. A. Farwell collected this species at Detroit (Wayne Co.) in 1900. By 1919, E. A. Bessey collected it in Gogebic Co., so it must have been scattered locally throughout the state early in the 20th century. Roadsides, railroads, fields, clearings (often in gravelly, rocky, or sandy soils), shores; farmyards, lawns, parking lots, and other disturbed places.
