Prunus glandulosa Thunb.
Common Name: DWARF FLOWERING ALMOND
Coefficient of Conservatism: *
Coefficient of Wetness: 5
Wetness Index: UPL
Physiognomy: Ad Shrub

Dry sandy roadsides and adjacent fields. A dwarf, colonial shrub native of China commonly grown in a showy double flowered form.

First collected in 1978 by W. R. Overlease as “spreading somewhat” near an old planting along a roadside in Benzie Co. Found definitely wild growing in a semi-open field in Ottawa Co. by W.S. Martinus in 2019. The cultivated “double” forms are sterile, so spread is presumably vegetative.
