Many of our collections, especially from southern Michigan, are from cedar swamps, or moist to wet, often mixed woods, often on mossy hummocks or even mossy logs and stumps, where it is typically the only species of Botrychium. It also occurs, though apparently less commonly collected, in moist open meadows, or sometimes drier, sandy open sites.
Occurring esentially throughout the State, this is a small, slender, difficult to see species that is probably overlooked.
