An Asian vine occasionally cultivated for its colorful bright blue fruits but readily escaping into thickets and forest edges in southern Michigan and potentially invasive. First collected by W. W. Brodovich & M. R. Penskar in Wayne Co. in 1988.
Subsumed into a broad Ampelopsis glandulosa (Wall.) Momiy. as var. brevipedunculata (Maxim.) Momiy. by some authors (Momiyama, 1977).
