Ubiquitous in wet meadows, swamps, wet thickets, ditches, fens, bogs, wet shores, seeps, etc., in sun or shade; one of our commonest ferns.
Thelypteris palustris has conspicuously dimorphic leaves, with the fertile being taller and with narrower pinnae; T. noveboracensis (and T. simulata) are not so dimorphic.
