Dumps, fencerows, thickets, and forests. A species of Eurasian origin, widely cultivated for the fruit. First collected in 1903 in Kent Co. A large, non-suckering, usually single-trunked tree at maturity, this is now a frequent tree in many urban woodlots despite the relatively few collections.
