Known in Michigan only from West Bluff (Brockway Mountain), Keweenaw Co., where it is a relatively inconspicuous and rare low plant on disintegrating conglomerate. This is one of the rarest of our species disjunct from the West, and is often treated as Chamaerhodos erecta (L.) Bunge var. nuttallii Torr. & A. Gray (an illegitimate name) or Chamaerhodos erecta subsp. nuttallii (Rydb.) Hultén.
