A native of beaches in northeastern Asia, cultivated for its felt-like foliage and rarely escaped to beaches on the Great Lakes (also on the Atlantic coast), rarely to other habitats. First collected in 1901 in Keweenaw Co. This is one of the few non-aromatic species of Artemisia.
