Panicum miliaceum spikelets B. S. Walters spikelets

Roadsides, railroads, cultivated fields, and other disturbed places.

Native of the Old World and occasionally escaped from cultivation; all our collections are subsp. miliaceum with yellow to orange mature fertile florets. The aggressively weedy subsp. ruderale (Kitag.) Tzvelev with olive-gray to nearly black fertile florets will doubtless be found soon in Michigan.
