A native of Europe, rarely escaped in our area into fields. Collected in Houghton Co. by C. D. Richards in 1949. Salt tolerant, and beginning to become established along highways in Ontario, so perhaps will be seen more frequently in the future.
This species is commonly cultivated, and usually known as Limonium latifolium (Sm.) Kuntze, a preoccupied name, or sometimes L. gerberi Soldano.
