Moist to sometimes drier coniferous or mixed forests, hummocks in coniferous swamps, etc.
This is our smallest species of Goodyera, and is a typical species of hummocks and drier portions of cedar swamps in northern Michigan. Living plants have a strongly one-sided inflorescence, but this cannot always be seen in pressed specimens.
