Gaura biennis of Michigan Flora.

River banks, remnant prairies, roadsides, fields, vacant lots.

Sometimes in more natural habitats, though often in disturbed settings; this was found by the First Survey both in 1838, so considered native to Michigan despite somewhat weedy tendencies.
