Ranges mostly south and east of Michigan. Collected in 1920 “on an unimproved lot” in Detroit (Wayne Co.), presumably adventive.
The distinctive ovate-elliptic leaf blades, densely and finely white-pubescent beneath and on short petioles, together with a more open inflorescence, characterize this species.
