Upland ± open deciduous forests (oak, beech-maple); also meadows, fencerows, thickets, lowland forests, especially along rivers.
The Houghton Co. record (Shackleford 753, in 2012, MICH) seems out of place, but was from a natural habitat, a moist riparian forest along the east branch of the Ontonagon River.
