Barely found as far north as Michigan, in prairies. Not collected since 1904, but still extant on immediately adjacent Walpole Island in Lambton Co., Ontario.

This is a larger, hard-based perennial of more mature communities, not drawdown shores and other transient, more or less base soil settings.
