Fields, roadsides. A European species locally naturalized in North America. First collected in 1923 in Allegan Co. More frequent eastward in Ontario, so probably will slowly increase.
This species is unique amoung our large fruited ("bladder") sedges in having both foliage and perigynia pubescent.
