Carex emoryi Dewey

Common Name: SEDGE
Coefficient of Conservatism: 7
Coefficient of Wetness: -5
Wetness Index: OBL
Physiognomy: Nt P-Sedge

Wet ground along rivers, rarely lakes and ponds; sometimes forming a characteristic band along the river bank.

This closely resembles Carex stricta, but has a distinctive habitat, and never forms large tussocks. The smooth, white-hyaline inner bands to the sheaths allow easy field recognition. in C. stricta, the sheaths are minutely roughened, and typically tinted with reddish-brown.
