A quite salt tolerant European native, occurring in wet sites, including seasonally wet highway ditches, gravelly roadsides, and other similar disturbed, open sites. First collected in Michigan in 1997 in Chippewa (Drummond Island), St. Clair, and Sanilac Cos. by A. W. Cusick and E. E. Weatherbee (Cusick, 2002).
