Wetness Index: FACW
Physiognomy: Ad B-Forb

Agricultural fields, roadsides, disturbed pond shores or streambanks; introduced from the south and first collected by G. S. Wilhelm & K. D. Herman in 2000 in Berrien Co. Native south of us, and recently moving north into agricultural fields and roadsides in Michigan. Known much earlier on more natural shores of beach pools and marsh edges on the Erie Islands of Ohio and Ontario, but few Michigan sites are in such more natural settings.

A distinctive plant with fleshy, ridged stems leafy nearly to the top and usually purple tinged, at least below. This is common just south of Michigan, forming dense showy yellow displays in fields in spring, so doubtless will spread in the state. Often known as Senecio glabellus Poir.
