Common Name: NORTHERN BLAZING-STAR
Coefficient of Conservatism: 5
Coefficient of Wetness: 5
Wetness Index: UPL
Physiognomy: Nt P-Forb
Dry sandy prairie remnants, fields, hillsides; savannas and barrens with jack pine, oak, aspen; associated roadsides and railroads; survives fire, clearing, and mowing.
Our plants are all var. nieuwlandii (Lunell) E. G. Voss.
A Keweenaw Co. record (Farwell 1826 1/3 in 1904) is not mapped; being far out of range, one of his notorious fractional numbers, and likely the result of a label error.
