Lycopersicon esculentum of Michigan Flora.
Disturbed ground, including dumps, railroad embankments, shores, river banks. This very well-known garden plant originated in Western South America. First collected in 1886 in Ingham Co.
The seeds may survive sewage treatment and may appear in quantity where the sludge is dispersed. It seems clear that Lycopersicon should be included within Solanum (Peralta, Spooner, & Knapp, 2008).
