Sherardia arvensis L.

Common Name: FIELD-MADDER
Coefficient of Conservatism: *
Coefficient of Wetness: 5
Wetness Index: UPL
Physiognomy: Ad A-Forb

An Old World native, still fairly local as a weed of disturbed ground in North America. First collected in 1920 at East Lansing, Ingham Co. (B. A. Walpole, BLH, MSC); apparently quite scarce, but possibly overlooked elsewhere.

Plants resemble a low, creeping Galium with bristly ovaries and leaves, but the little heads of pink to blue flowers with long corolla tubes are distinctive.
