Arabis laevigata of Michigan Flora.

Floodplain, rich hardwood, and oak forests; river-bank thickets.

Distinctive in its long and relatively few cauline leaves (cf. B. grahamii and B. missouriensis), which are usually entire and nearly linear on the distal part of the stem and strongly toothed toward the base of the stem. The rosette leaves of the second year, at the base of the fertile stem, are glabrous but usually soon wither; the rosettes of the first year, sometimes seen offsetting from the base of the fertile stem, are pubescent.
