Polygonum achoreum S. F. Blake

Common Name: SMARTWEED
Coefficient of Conservatism: 0
Coefficient of Wetness: 3
Wetness Index: FACU
Physiognomy: Nt A-Forb

Sandy and gravelly roadsides and clearings, railroads. A plant of unknown nativity now a weed across northern North America, but not collected until 1919 (Gogebic Co.) and likely not native here.

The prominent beak on the fruiting perianth, relatively short perianth lobes, and more rounded leaf tips make this species relatively distinctive in the group.
