Dry (rarely moist) open or lightly shaded ground, especially with oak, as on old dunes; prairies, stream banks, drier, upper portions of river floodplain forests, etc.
This is a tall, very glaucous, large-leaved, striking plant; apparently truly local, for it would be hard for collectors to overlook.
