Michigan is at the northern edge of the range of this species, which was collected in 1837 by the First Survey in moist sandy soil (presumably a prairie remnant) at Monroe, Monroe Co. (A. Sager, NY). The only other Michigan collection seen (despite other published reports) was made in 1964 at Lemon Creek (presumably at Andrews University), Berrien Co. (E. Zollinger, AUB).
