Wet calcareous meadows, fens, moist to dryish prairies and prairie-like habitats, in calcareous soils.
Spiranthes magnicamporum is the latest species of the S. cernua complex to flower, starting to bloom after S. cernua is past its prime, and often blooming well into October. It is usually leafless when in full bloom, and has a strong vanilla fragrance.
