An uncommon adventive into dry soil and along railways, native in the prairies and plains of the central United States and Canada. A specimen (MSC) from Lansing, Ingham Co., ca. 1870 but without collector or date is perhaps dubious as to origin, but would represent the first collection if really from a wild plant.
