Dry forests, hillsides, and sandy banks; also moist shaded ground, shores, and river banks. This species seems to have become much less common during the past half-century or so, with only a few collections made in Michigan since 1938.
The inflorescence is more corymbose than in Linum striatum, sometimes quite similar to that of L. medium.
