A Eurasian species, escaped from cultivation to roadsides, clearings, lawns, and disturbed places. First collected in 1921 in Washtenaw Co.

The inflorescence is more compact (and clearly terminal) than in T. albidus; the stem pubescence is short (less than 0.5 mm) and ± recurved. In the somewhat similar T. praecox Opiz, the strong lateral veins anastomose and form an equally strong marginal vein around the apex of the leaf; the stem is hairy on all or at least two opposite sides. It is cultivated and may be expected as an escape.
