This is one of several mints cultivated for its oils and fragrant foliage. It is occasionally established as an escape on shores, along stream banks and roadsides, in fields and disturbed places. First collected in 1964 in Marquette Co.
This sweet-scented intermediate plant is a triploid hybrid of M. spicata × M. suaveolens.
