Eleocharis tricostata Torr.

Common Name: THREE-RIBBED SPIKE-RUSH
Coefficient of Conservatism: 10
Coefficient of Wetness: -5
Wetness Index: OBL
Physiognomy: Nt P-Sedge
Status: T

A rare Coastal Plain disjunct species of moist, sandy, sedgy, open swales.

The summit of the leaf sheath has a distinct tooth which, along with the very stout rhizome and absence of perianth bristles, distinguishes this species from E. rostellata, to which it might be keyed since the tubercle is very small and scarcely constricted.
