Sandy shores of lakes and ponds with fluctuating water levels. A tiny annual, like E. geniculata in having shiny black achenes, but even smaller. First collected in Michigan by J. A. Churchill in Muskegon Co. (see Churchill, 1976).
This tiny species is usually found in the same habitats as our Coastal Plain disjuncts, although it is actually of much wider distribution.
