Besides our unique plant, Podophyllum consists of about 10 additional species, all found in the temperate forests of eastern Asia. The Asian species are somewhat divergent morphologically and sometimes are recognized as belonging to two genera, Dysosma and Sinopodophyllum, in which case our Podophyllum is monotypic.
