Cleome hassleriana of Michigan Flora.

A native of South America, widely cultivated and occasionally escaped. It occurred on exposed river-bottom and mud-flats at Ann Arbor (Washtenaw Co.) late in 1968, after a dam had broken in June; the seeds had presumably lain dormant in the ponded area.
