Another garden species, originally from southern Mexico or Guatemala, occasionally escaped from cultivation or appearing on dump heaps. Our first collection is an undated one by D. Clarke (active ca. 1840–1883) from Genesee Co. The stem is pubescent, especially around the inflorescence.
