Sagittaria cuneata with floating leaves A. A. Reznicek with floating leaves

Streams, rivers, ditches, lakes, and streams; usually in shallow water or on wet shores.

Plants of this species often produce floating leaves on the surface of the water and, when submersed, long ribbon-like phyllodial leaves. These somewhat resemble leaves of Vallisneria or submersed forms of Sparganium, but differ in venation and in not being so definitely parallel-sided. The floating leaves are arrow-shaped (or some only elliptic); the other species in the genus apparently do not produce floating leaves.
