Sandy, open sites, presumably adventive from farther south; first collected in 1988 in Monroe Co. by D. A. Albert.

The bracts beneath the pistillate flowers are similar in shape and number of lobes to those of A. rhomboidea, but the narrow, short-petioled leaves are distinctive.
