Mitella nuda L.
Common Name: NAKED MITERWORT
Coefficient of Conservatism: 8
Coefficient of Wetness: -3
Wetness Index: FACW
Physiognomy: Nt P-Forb

Most often in cedar swamps and thickets, but also in moist mixed forests and spruce-fir stands; often on mossy logs and hummocks.

A species with very slender rhizomes and stolons, abundant and distinctive even when vegetative. The erect hairs on the upper side of the crenate leaf blades will tell it from everything similar, except perhaps the rare Dalibarda repens, which has leaves with more regular small crenations (over 14 on a side) and the petioles covered with fine appressed hairs. In M. nuda, the petioles have ± spreading stiff hairs, usually gland-tipped.
