Moist, lightly shaded areas, especially along streams and rivers, wet meadows, a widespread but rather rare species.

The margins of the leaflets are slightly revolute, and the lobes tend to be more acute than in T. venulosum. Occasional specimens with sparse glands but frequent multicellular hairs may be hybrids with T. dasycarpum.
