Verges and medians of highways salted in winter, salt influenced ditch banks and fields.

A perennial with creeping rhizomes; the large, whitish patches of this species are becoming a characteristic feature of salted roadsides, especially in southeastern Michigan. First collected by A. A. Reznicek in Wayne Co. in 1978.
