Lemna trisulca floating leaves R. Schipper floating leaves

In similar waters as the other species of Lemna, but in tangled masses beneath the water, not floating on the surface, and hence not easily seen. Very variable in size, the largest and most luxuriant plants found in cold spring-fed streams.

The margins of the plant bodies are ± dentate or erose, and fragmentary specimens or the very rare floating plants with shorter segments are thus distinguishable from L. minor or L. turionifera.
